Welcome to goTrails, a web application designed for cyclists to plan adventures, track personal goals, and connect with a global cycling community. Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using goTrails (“Service”, “we”, “our”, “us”).
By accessing or using goTrails, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use goTrails. By using the Service, you confirm that you meet this age requirement and are legally able to enter into a binding agreement.
2. Availability
goTrails is currently available in Canada, the United States, and the European Union. Use from other regions is at your own risk and may be restricted.
3. Accounts
You must create an account to access key features such as trail tracking, goal setting, and community features. You agree to provide accurate and complete information, keep your credentials secure, and take responsibility for all activity under your account.
4. User Data
We collect personal, activity, and analytics data to provide and improve the Service, including:
- Email, location, gender, height, weight, and age
- Ride statistics such as distance and average speed
- Community data like comments, ratings, and profile info
- Analytics such as time on page, scroll depth, and ad interaction
All passwords are stored securely using bcrypt, and authentication is managed via JWT tokens. You may request account and data deletion at any time via the settings page.
5. User Content
You may upload or submit trails, comments, ratings, photos, and other content. By doing so, you grant goTrails a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and share that content within the platform.
You are responsible for the content you post. The following behavior is prohibited:
- Spamming or submitting misleading content
- False reporting
- Scraping or data harvesting
- Offensive language, hate speech, or abusive behavior
Trails and community posts may include images, some of which may be subject to copyright. While we make efforts to provide proper attribution where possible, goTrails does not verify ownership of every image and does not accept responsibility for any copyright issues arising from user-submitted or platform-provided images. Users are solely responsible for ensuring that any images they upload comply with applicable copyright laws.
6. Moderation & Enforcement
goTrails uses automated filters and community reporting tools. Flagged content may be reviewed, and violations may result in content removal, warnings, suspension, or permanent bans.
7. Third-Party Services
We use third-party services such as:
- Leaflet (maps)
- OpenRouteService (routing)
- Photon (geocoding)
- Google Analytics (usage data)
In the future, we may integrate advertisements and a newsletter. While we do not sell or intentionally share user data, third-party tools may collect anonymized or aggregate information.
8. Disclaimers & Liability
Use goTrails at your own risk. We do not guarantee the safety, accuracy, or availability of any route or user-submitted content. You are responsible for your own safety while cycling.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service.
9. Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms periodically. Significant changes will be communicated via email or in-app notifications. Continued use of goTrails after updates indicates your acceptance of the new Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Quebec, Canada.
